After ages of toying around with unity for some tiny projects, I decided to actually participate in a gamejam  and publish something, even if it is no really a game, but just a prototype.

I took some Kenny CC0 assets (which are so good :chefkiss:) and used this as a chance to learn Unity 2D workflows (as I never really tried doing anything 2D in Unity before.

If you're interested in some more development details - check out my dev log!

Platforms

  • Browser - You can play right here on the itch page, it is recommended to fullscreen it for the best experience
  • Windows - You can also download the Windows build to play it locally

Game Controls

  • WASD / Arrow Keys - Movement
  • Space: Wait (not used in any mechanic)
  • R - Restart
  • Esc - Pause
  • Q - Exit game on Game End and Pause screens

Hope this will help me push for more and better ideas next time! As while this is barely even a game content-wise, I learned a lot about working with all the 2d-related unity systems, which will save me a ton of time next time, hopefully.

Credits

I used these tools and assets in the project

  • Kenney CC0 assets
  • The Ambiance and footstep sounds from the Ultimate SFX pack on Unity Asset Store
  • Character movement animation using DOTween

The rest was done with my own terrible code and shaders :)

Thanks for playing! Yeah... sadly I ran out of time/energy to make more in time for the jam.
